Deal and Walmer

lori798_2.jpg

The coastal towns of Deal and Walmer are home to two of a string of three castes built by Henry VIII as defense against the Dutch and later the Spanish. The pictures on the left are Walmer Castle, which has also been transfigured into a stylish house. The "subterranean" looking ones are Deal Castle, which has a dark, narrow passageway that circumnavigates the walls open for exploring.
